Cultivating Company Culture: Pyramex's Purpose from the Perspective of Our President

Since Pyramex was founded in 1991, our company has seen meaningful growth, and that growth would not be possible without the people of Pyramex following our guiding principles. The four pillars of Pyramex (honoring God, developing people, pursuing excellence, and growing profitably) are what our values are built on, and are at the center of all that we do as a company. As we jump into 2026, we wanted to take some time to reflect on our values through the perspective of our Company President, Travis Slater, and learn more about how he envisions us living out these values moving forward.
The Slater family was one of the four families that founded Pyramex 34 years ago, and Travis has been with the company for 23 years, first as CFO and now as President. His father Mike Slater served as President for 14 years before Travis stepped into the role in 2011. Travis, his brothers Aaron and Adam Slater (Director of IT and CFO, respectively), and the leadership team of Pyramex have worked together to build a culture of unity and care. This team seeks to embody what it means to be a member of the Pyramex family by upholding our values on a day-to-day basis.

Pyramex established three major value propositions in 2025 that we promise to our customers: to be a trusted partner, to produce superior quality, and to deliver unmatched service. Pyramex’s four pillars support these propositions and serve as a driving force behind all company decisions. Travis believes that being a trusted partner “centers around the whole heartbeat of honoring God,” which also contributes to providing unmatched service to our customers. Pyramex is a company that is built on integrity, and we believe that striving to do the right thing is the foundation for establishing trust and building strong relationships. When it comes to providing superior quality, Travis states that as a PPE company, our goal is to “save lives and protect people,” which is achieved by offering the highest quality products possible.
Another driving factor behind Travis’ leadership decisions is ensuring that Pyramex is a peaceful place to work by fostering a sense of community. A treasured Pyramex tradition established by Travis’ father, Mike, is the Eat-O-Thon season, which takes place between Thanksgiving and Christmas each year. During Eat-O-Thon, Pyramex provides meals to employees, and the company sits down and eats together as a family because “when you sit down and have a meal with someone, you begin to have deeper dialogue and conversations about life in general, beyond just your day-to-day work responsibilities. Through events like Eat-O-Thon, Secret Santa, company picnics, cornhole tournaments, and many other community-oriented events, members of Pyramex can create friendships and support systems that extend further than the workday.
In a world that is consistently changing, Pyramex’s values remain constant. In the last five years alone, businesses across the U.S. have faced numerous challenges, including COVID-19, global supply chain shortages, and changes in tariff policies. Throughout any situation, however, Travis strives to live out these values in his everyday life while also encouraging the other members of Pyramex to do the same. His philosophy is that strong leadership involves putting others before himself saying that “when you become a leader, you’re responsible for investing into those that have been entrusted to your care for the purpose of helping them succeed.” As Pyramex continues to grow and adapt to economic and social changes, Travis and the rest of the Pyramex leadership team are committed to staying true to our values, serving our customers well, saving lives, and protecting people.
